In addition to my passion for sailing, I love to walk. I find it is the best way to get to know a new place but there is also something addictive about the fresh air and open space. It fixes all problems and so I try to make it part of my daily life. The field I have painted is one that I pass or amble through almost daily.

This large field leads to one of our favourite den making spots on Alderley Edge in Cheshire. In May it is transformed as the entire field fills with dandelion clocks. It is a magical sight. Cars stop to take in natures spectacle and I see the same faces coming back year on year to photograph the scene.

I love making textures and marks with paint and this painting is an indulgence! It was painted with the energy that the first warm months bring.
