For this project, we were asked to design a new driveway with turning area and a garage for a beautiful detached country house.
The old driveway was quite a distance from the house to the rear of the property which had the effect of turning the rear elevation into the main entrance. By bringing the drive in front of the house we reinstated the original front door.
The proposed position of this oak framed 3 bay garage meant that it needed planning permission, which we applied for on behalf of the owner.
The garage was designed to be faced with oak tiebeams and jowl posts but for sustainability and cost efficiency the rear was constructed out of slow grown softwood.
The roof space was completely insulated with stairway access for use as a sail loft.
